LuckinCoffee, a Chinese coffee chain started last year, has made headlines forsetting an ambitious target of having 4,500 stores by year-end. According to Reinout Schakel, Chief Strategy Officer at LuckinCoffee, "Chinese consumers currently drink just 4 to 5 cups per capita, compared to about 300 cups in countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea,"which leaves room for more than one dominant player in China's java market.
