China: The Queen of Dairy Trade

Chinese demand for dairy is stable at about 12 percent per year, and based on the first eight months, dairy imports are on track to reach an estimated 3.3 billion pounds. Through the first eight months of this year, Chinese whole milk powder imports grew 11 percent compared to the same time frame in 2016; Skim milk powder was up 29 percent, cheese rose 23 percent, butterfat gained 19 percent and whey 9 percent.

World Food Price Fall 1.3 Percent in October: FAO

The United Nations World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has said that food prices in October fell slightly from the previous month. Valuations dropped for all food commodities apart from cereals, as the cereals markets are expected to be balanced in 2017-18, the FAO said.

Dubai Sees Increase in Food Trade, 6.19mln Tonnes Imported in 2017

According to Iman Ali Al Bastaki, Director of the Food Safety Department at the municipality, Dubai imported a total of 6,191,135 tonnes of food in 2017. The municipality's electronic control system registered over 600,000 different food varieties, she added.
