2023.02.08

SIAL in China will hold two exhibitions in 2023: one in Shanghai New International Expo Center(SNIEC) from May 18 to 20 and the other in Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center from August 28 to 30. With this new gesture, it is well poised to expand brand influence and seize opportunities brought about by the explosion in demand for food and beverages in 2023.

As one of SIAL’s top three global food exhibitions, SIAL Shanghai 2023 will be organized by the Comexposium Group, the China General Chamber of Commerce(CGCC) and the Comexposium-SIAL Exhibition Co., Ltd. Across an exhibition space covering around 180,000 m2, it is expected to attract over 4,500 exhibitors and more than 150,000 professionals from all over the world, displaying more than 300,000 exhibits.

SIAL Shenzhen, a fresh new international food and beverage exhibition brand under the SIAL NETWORK, is designed to help food and beverage enterprises seize market opportunities in southern China and Southeast Asia. Covering an area of 35,000 m2, the exhibition is expected to draw more than 1,500 exhibitors and over 30,000 professionals from across the globe. It features high quality, boutique, cutting-edge, special, innovative and technology-driven food and beverage solutions, and aims to serve as a global trade platform for the large number of optimum buyers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In line with new food trends in the region, SIAL Shenzhen will help enable beverage enterprises to quickly open up these markets.

Explore new boosters for the food industry in 2003 with SIAL Shanghai

Several international organizations view China’s economy in 2023 with optimism. At the recent “1+6” Roundtable, heads of the World Bank, IMF and other institutions welcomed China’s wider opening-up and adjustment of its COVID control policies. They believe that these will boost the rebound in China’s economy as well as the world economy generally. While the global economy faces many uncertainties, the foundation of China’s economic boom remains solid, reported the Nikkei Asian Review. Rising Chinese household wealth is one of the key drivers of China’s economic growth, which has sustained consumer spending, business confidence and capital investment in China.

To help food and beverage enterprises find new stimuli in 2023, SIAL Shanghai will carry out vertical promotion and attract buyers based on the latest global food and beverage trends and growth spots. It will launch eight featured sectors, namely, Meat Poultry and Cured Meat, Seafood, Dairy, Food, Alcoholic Beverages, Non-alcoholic Beverages, Organic and Wellness Village, and Babyfood Village.

In addition, the 2023 SIAL Global Food Summit will take place during the exhibition.

SIAL Shenzhen helps enterprises develop new markets

The third and fourth quarters, with their many holidays and festivals, are the traditional boom season for Chinese consumption. The Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, Singles’ Day, Double Twelve, Christmas, New Year, Spring Festival, will usher in the “holiday economy” with a consumption peak in the second half of the year. Naturally, this is a key period for the food and beverage industry to boost sales. SIAL Shenzhen will provide the best opportunity for industry players to discover new products and prepare for the prime sales period.

Shenzhen is a pioneer in reform and opening up and a core engine of economic growth in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It serves as a platform for reaching out across southern China and to ASEAN and RCEP members.

However, Shenzhen is also a typical city in how it imports food and beverage products. In 2019, Shenzhen consumed 9,400 tons of vegetables and fruits, 6,190 tons of meat, eggs and seafood products, and 5,480 tons of grain every day.

Southern China is also a major food production region and a large consumer market. In particular, the market demand for imported food, which also a key category at SIAL China, is growing at an annual rate of 15%. As an international food and beverage exhibition, SIAL will contribute to upgrading the southern China market in terms of consumption.

In 2023, SIAL will invite RECP members to SIAL Shenzhen. It is expected that exhibitors and international buyers from Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries around the world will be present, highlighting again the food and beverage trade demand from Southeast Asia. The 12 stops of SIAL NETWORK will also empower SIAL Shenzhen to become another optimal business platform that connects food and beverage businesses with international professional buyers.
